STORIES

Our project is located in a beautiful city in a very known country of the 10/40 window. Since I’m here I have met many refugees families and one of them has caught my attention. I visit them often and they are very special to me.
In my very first day in this new city I was invited to visit them. They prepared us a delicious Iftar in their house (This is the special meal to break the Ramadan fasting). There was a lot of good food and I felt very welcomed and comfortable in that house.
After that I decided to give English classes to the youngest daughter of that family. She is a creative redhead little girl. She likes singing, drawing and we have so much fun every week.
After the English class we pray together and we have our lunch. I also make massages in her mother. She was having pain in her neck and shoulders and it had been some months that she couldn’t even move her neck to one side. When I finish the massage, I usually go back home full of gratitude.
I knew that the secret of the mission  life, is to be willing to work for God and He will open doors and use me as his tool to help others.
Some weeks ago I realized that this woman, the mother, was depressed and as a psychologist I asked her if I could stay further more in the visits to talk to her. She accepted and we started the therapy. She talks a lot about how was it like to live in the war and all the process of being a refugee, the fleeting process, the missing of her house and relatives, etc. I was afraid in the beginning to touch this subject, but this brave woman said ”I’m glad to have someone that wants to listen to my stories and I have more to share“.
After few weeks of therapy, she is already feeling less pain in her shoulders, she moves the head to both sides and I’m so happy to see her improvement.

Life Challenges

"Oliver" has one wife and 4 children, "Kelvin", "Raquel", "Matheus" and "Rita". They are one of the Syrian families part of SDAHCA that fled from Syria in the midst of gun shots and explosions, one of which cause a hearing problem in Matheus and other traumas in all the other members of this family.

Oliver and his wife face many challenges in their daily life as refugees in Egypt. One of this challenges is related the oldest son, Kelvin, a very lovely autistic boy. Because of his condition, the parents must have double attention on him on simple daily tasks as going to the bathroom, or going out to the market.

Everyday Kelvin goes to a specialized center to do many activities aiming to improve his skills in different aspects. Besides that, once a week SDAHCA takes him out to a field to help him improve his motor and coordination skills by doing physical activities and providing him  social and fun moments.

Oliver's dream is to one day, go back to his home country and open a Center to attend special children as Kelvin, and help them improve in their lives.

As part of SDAHCA project, we help Oliver's family financially by covering 50% of medicine that they may need, and also the center that Kelvin attend daily, besides other social activities.

You can also be part of this story by helping SDAHCA with your prayers, by sharing our project and also by donations.

"FRIENDS"

Well, I'm here... after 5 years of landing in Cairo, I only have thanksgiving to my God for all blessings He has given me, and now, to my wife.

Work with Syrians refugees gave me the opportunity of knowing arabic cultural behaviors in a better way, and increase my sensibility toward Middle East sociopolitical current situation; in special islamism and all its influence over this region of the world!
Most of our 25 Syrian families wish to go back to Syria, and we would like so. But the reality is that not all of them can do it.
But life goes on, some of them have grown in number (God has allowed us to know 5 newborns during the last 3 years) and in friendship. Today we visit them without previous invitation, often we eat together, we celebrate together, we trust each other and pray for all our sorrows... that's why this project is called SDAHCA-صداقة (means Friendship, in arabic).
The most beloved one from Isa el Mesiah's companions, John, heard this from his Master's lips: "I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you". (S John 15:15).
What privilege has been to be called to an eternal friendship with others and God.
